Wayne Volunteer Fire Department

Members of the WVFD have been very busy with training!

Recent changes in Ohio state law require all firefighters to complete a minimum of 18 hours of annual training in order to maintain certification. Wayne Firefighters have completed initial re-certification requirements and have received new certification cards. Wayne Firefighters continue to meet annual training requirements through a variety of training opportunities. These include monthly training at the fire station, participation in NOVFA Regional Fire School, Wood County Weekend at Ohio Fire Academy, Montgomery Township Training Camp, State Fire School, Motorsports Fire Training, and other opportunities. To learn more about the State of Ohio's Fire and EMS training and re-certification requirements visit the Division of EMS website at www.ems.ohio.gov.

Firefighters Josh Althaus and Andy Gross attended 'Responding to Oilfield Emergencies' training, April 5-6 at the Wayne County Fire and Rescue Association's Regional Training Facility. Our cost for this training was sponsored by the Bradner Oil Company. A special thank you to Bob Harpster for making this opportunity possible. A total of 24 hours of continuing education was received.

Andy Carter completed his EMT-Basic class and passed the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians test for a total of 140 hours of continuing education.

Thanks to the Wood County Firefighter's Association and the Wood County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), the WVFD was able to send 10 firefighters to the Ohio Fire Academy for the weekend for a total of 120 hours of continuing education.
